REPUBLICAN CLUB APRIL MOVIE:

“A FAMILY THING”

The Republican Club will present the movie “A Family Thing” in the Peacock Theater at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 29. NOTE THAT THIS IS A ONE-TIME CHANGE FROM OUR USUAL THIRD WEDNESDAY MOVIE DATE. Admission is free and everyone is invited! This is a nonpartisan event.

“A Family Thing” is a 1996 American Southern Gothic family drama film written by Billy Bob Thornton and Tom Epperson, and staring two fabulous movie stars who have recently passed away. Robert Duvall stars as a farm equipment dealer from rural Arkansas who travels to Chicago to meet his long-lost half-brother, portrayed by James Earl Jones, after learning from his dying mother that his biological mother was a black maid who worked for his white parents and was raped by his father.

Film critic Roger Ebert described “A Family Thing” as “superior entertainment, warm-hearted and touching, and with some nice shadings in the performances.”

“A Family Thing” is rated PG-13 and runs for 109 minutes. For information contact Dianne Brackin at dbrack925@gmail.com or 925-300-3144.
