Putin is the Devil - vote for Oleskii Chuiko

Our Judeo-Christian heritage, if we can remember it, teaches us that evil exists in the world, and some people follow the path of the devil. Not everything is relative. Not everything is just an “issue.”  The war in Ukraine, Putin’s war, is reminding us how evil exists in the world, and Putin, who wanted to be a KGB agent at age 13, is following the path of the devil. An evil that is pure, unadulterated, and undeniable.

Ronald Reagan spoke of Russia and Iran as the “axis of evil” and many criticized his speech as being too simplistic. Recent actions of Putin by invading another peaceful country, bombing civilians with missiles labeled “for the children” and condoning murder of hundreds of civilians in Bucha are clearly evil, and cannot be allowed to continue.  In the past presidents from both parties tolerated Putin’s evil. When Assad crossed a “red line” in Syria, Obama asked Putin to remove Assad’s chemical weapons. Putin gladly moved his air force to Syria, leveled Aleppo with the death of thousands, created millions of refugees, and ensured Assad’s victory. We did not recognize that both Assad and Putin were evil.

We will never know whether, if Trump had been re-elected, Putin would have invaded Ukraine, as Putin and everyone recognize that Trump is quite unpredictable.  But Trump is now infamous for the many positive adjectives he has used to describe Putin.  Trump clearly does not recognize  the devil.

In China Xi rules with an iron fist; the media and the internet in China is even more closely censored than in Russia. Few in China know of the history of Tinamen square or the possibility of Covid-19 starting in the Wuhan lab. The forced imprisonment of over a million Uyghurs in western China, and the obliteration of Tibetan language, culture, and religion constitute genocides, orchestrated by the Chinese Communist Party. The obliteration of democracy in Hong Kong is just the first of  China’s territorial ambitions. Taiwan must not suffer the same fate.

Climate change, police brutality, crime, inflation, taxation policies, government regulation, guns, immigration, and homelessness are important issues, but those who disagree with you on these issues are not evil.

In the 1920s and 30s American opinion on foreign affairs was divided between isolationists and internationalists. During the cold war from 1945 to 1991 both Democrats and Republicans pursued a similar approach to foreign affairs, with the containment of the USSR as the strategy,  and Americans were more united on foreign issues. In the 1990s we all dreamed about “the end of history” with a victory for Western Democracy worldwide. That dream is over. Now with the evil actions and territorial ambitions of the autocracies in Russia, China, Iran, and North Korea, we can all see more clearly the moral choices America needs to make, and the necessity of military force to protect our values.  We can hope this leads to greater unity and less division in both our parties and ourselves.

Rossmoor voters will have a choice when they vote for Congress. If you vote for Mark DeSaulnier, our incumbent congressman, you are voting for Nancy Pelosi, as he votes with her virtually 99% of the time and she helps finance his campaign.  In both California and nationwide, Democrats outspend Republicans on campaigns. The Republican write-in candidate, Oleksii Chuiko, is a Ukrainian-American who knows what it is like to live under a communist-socialist government, and what it is to have your homeland invaded by the devil. He won’t have money for expensive TV ads, but remember his name, Oleksii Chuiko, write it down and write it in for congress, 10th district.  He will bring a fresh look and a fresh vision to California’s congressional delegation.
